But make sure it has no Defences. The Espi report, if complete, will give the WAS Tech levels.

Is the planet still there?  Sometimes inactives disappear  before an attack completes.

Hi firstly send probes from your planet to ( i ) planet to get an espionage report. This report will give you a up to the minute assesment of that planet.i.e. what resourses it has and also any defences which need to be avoided.
Next you need to open a seperate tab on your pc and go to ( www.battlecalc.com ) once you have installed battlecalc, or battlementat.com, you need to copy and paste your espionage report in either, and it will give you what ships to attack with, and also what ships to collect resourses with. If you send ships on a harvest mission this means that you can only collect debris which is floating around a planet, so this could be where you are going wrong, to obtain resourses you will need to send ships on an attack mission.
I hope this helps, as it is hard to write it all down as it has become second nature to most of us, who do it many times per day (good luck, happy hunting !!!!)
Don't leave your toys laying around the yard, or someone will step on them, and break them ☺

With battlementat it is easy.

In game, select the text of the espionage report, then copy.

In Battlementat:
First I recommend entering your weapon, shield , armor and drive technologies in the spaces provided on the left; then bookmarking the page.  That way you don't need to re-enter it with every use.  In the paste area on the right, paste the clipboard of the espionage report.  Then enter the ships you plan to attack with on the left side.
