Group Harvest

Why not add a formation option on the fleet screen for a group harvest, with tne debris field being split among those joining?

+1    This would be a good thing for group attacks. Share the attack, then share the harvest.

What is the benefit to this over each person just sending their recyclers? A player can't bring back more resources than the ships have cargo space for.

The main benefit is the debris would be distributed among the players recyclers and they would all arrive at the same time and not be left out.  The distribution method would be the same as the plunder among group attack ships.  An additional benefit is that each player spends their share of the hydro costs of the harvest.

But they do this already by just launching their recyclers separately.

Yes, but they aren't all timed to arrive at the same time.  Whoever gets there first would get all the crystal, leaving ore for the laggards.  With a group harvest option, the resources would be spread evenly among them like in a group attack.

The only other way is for the highest ranked player to collect it all then 'Pay it Forward' to the others.

Seems ok, it may slow down the over all Harvest time but that is the only down side that i can think of.

Here is where it is needed:  Say I overnight group attack a target (NPC) from two planets (splitting the plunder among the the attacking planets).  To FRS the rest of the ships, it is necessary (to save fleet slots) to send them with the harvest paced by one of the slowest attack ship (Zeus, Thanatos, Gaia, Dionysus, as the case may be) to harvest after the attack.  With a group harvest, the debris would also be split among the harvesting planets.  Without it, the last group would only harvest debris if the first group didn't have enough recyclers.

I still support this fully. It seems like a feature that should of already been added a long time ago. Without it, it's who is faster and got the most Dio's that gets the field. Not exactly what a group of friends attacking together are looking to do. Split the attack with plunder and DSP, then split the debris field. Good idea.
